Sky Sports on Virgin Media

Sky Sports is the number one TV sports package in the UK and is available not just from Sky directly but also from rival TV suppliers such as Virgin Media.

If you’re new to Virgin Media and looking for Sky Sports you have three options – take a triple bundle where you get TV, broadband and landline phone in one package and add Sky Sports to your chosen package for an extra monthly fee, take one of the 3 Sky Sports bundles with landline phone – Followers, Fans or Fanatics or just take Virgin TV with no phone and add Sky Sports.

Here are two examples of the first option using the basic triple bundle and a more advanced one. Virgin Media TV now comes with a choice of boxes – a Virgin TiVo box with a 500GB hard drive or the basic V HD box which has no PVR functions like pause, rewind and record. Virgin Basic Bundle with Sky Sports

The Virgin Media starter triple bundle consists of TV M+, Broadband L and Phone M – that means TV with 65 channels, TiVo and free catch-up, 10Mb broadband with no limit but an acceptable use policy and phone with included weekend calls – for £23 a month plus £13.90 a month phone line rental on a 12 month contract. Add Sky Sports 1 or 2 for £14.50 a month or the whole Sky Sports Collection (Sky Sports 1, 2, 3 and 4 and Sky Sports News) for £22.50 a month. Total £51.40 or £59.40 for the collection.

Virgin XL Triple Bundle with Sky Sports

The Virgin XL triple bundle consists of TV XL, Broadband XL and Phone XL – that means TV with over 160 channels, TiVo and free catch-up, 30Mb broadband and landline phone with unlimited anytime calls to UK landlines and Virgin Mobile numbers – for £50 a month plus £13.90 a month phone line rental on an 18 month contract. Add Sky Sports 1 or 2 for £14.50 a month or the whole Sky Sports Collection (Sky Sports 1, 2, 3 and 4 and Sky Sports News) for £22.50 a month. Total £78.40 or £86.40 for the collection.

The 3 Virgin Sky Sports bundles offer good value but don’t include broadband so may not be suitable depending on your existing broadband set-up. Again the monthly prices given here are for Virgin TiVo with a 500GB TiVo box.

Followers Bundle

The Virgin Followers Bundle consists of TV M+, Sky Sports 1 and phone M for £24 a month. Plus phone line £13.90 a month and it’s an 18 month contract as opposed to 12. Total £37.90 a month.

Fanatics Bundle

The Virgin Fanatics Bundle consists of the same as the Fans bundle but with Virgin TV XL for £57 a month. TV XL gives you ESPN, ESPN HD, ESPN America, ESPN Classic, Eurosport HD and Motors TV on top. Total monthly fee £70.90.

TV with No Phone

The Virgin TV sizes M+, L and XL are all available without a phone line for £3 more per month, so TV M+ is £12.50 with no phone instead of £9.50 with. This means the cheapeat way to get Sky Sports 1 only would be to take TV M+ for £12.50 a month and add on Sky Sports for a further £14.50, total £27 a month, however an installation fee of £49.95 is payable for broadband or TV taken on its own.
